I'm Matt — a storyteller, showrunner, and educator who creates worlds that connect: on screen, on the page, and in person.

As co-creator of the Emmy® Award-winning series Hardball and the supernatural comedy Spooky Files, my work has been streamed around the world and broadcast by Netflix, the BBC, and ABC. It's been celebrated at global festivals and embraced by audiences of all ages. I write, direct, produce, and perform — often all at once. I’m a multi-hat-wearing slashie, and I love what I do.

Over the years, I’ve developed original content for companies like Netflix, Northern Pictures, and Tony Ayres Productions, and co-authored two children’s book series translated into multiple languages. I also co-founded Megaboom Pictures to create character-driven, cross-platform stories that entertain and endure.

Alongside my creative work, I collaborate with brands, agencies, and purpose-driven organisations to craft story-led films and campaigns — combining cinematic technique with emotional clarity to move audiences and inspire connection. Whether it’s recruitment, education, or product storytelling, I bring heart, humour, and craft to every frame.

Off-screen, I’ve spent more than a decade mentoring talent at NIDA and running SydneyScreenActing.com — helping emerging actors and creators find their voice in a fast-changing industry I know inside out.

Whether I’m on set, in schools, or shaping a new IP in the writers' room, I believe in stories that matter and moments that move us. I grew up in housing commission in Brisbane with a single mum and my brother — and that experience continues to shape the stories I tell.
